2025 MANA Virtual Symposium

“From Metabolomics to Mechanism”

Event: May 8, 2025

Host: Ryan Sheldon, Ph.D. (Van Andel Institute Mass Spectrometry Core)

About: Metabolomics is a powerful tool to probe biological phenotypes that provides a perspective not possible with other ‘omics approaches. Translating metabolomic phenotypes to mechanistic understanding is difficult, requiring experimental iteration, innovation, and orthogonal approaches. In this symposium, field leaders will present their work in a “metabolomics first” manner, describing how their research developed from early metabolomics observations to true biological mechanisms.

Speakers:

  • Russell Jones, Ph.D. (Van Andel Institute)

  • Sophie Trefely, Ph.D. (Babraham Institute)

  • Anja Karlstaedt, M.D., Ph.D. (Cedars-Sinai Medical Center)

  • Jonathan Long, Ph.D. (Stanford University)

  • Rachel Kopec, Ph.D. (The Ohio State University)

  • Sam McBrayer, Ph.D. (Children’s Research Institute at UT Southwestern)

  • Xiaoyang Su, Ph.D. (Rutgers University)
